Dinner to Fight Hunger

Henry & Marty Restaurant will be holding its third annual Dinner to Fight Hunger on March 22, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP).

In the past two years this event has raised $11,450.46. Each dollar raised for Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program can buy $12.50 worth of food. That translates into over $143,000 worth of food that was given to people in need.

MCHPP operates several food assistance programs, including a Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, Food Bank, Reaching Elders food delivery, Strategies for Sustainable Living educational program, and a Summer Feeding Program, from its location at 84A Union Street in Brunswick. In 2009, the Soup Kitchen served 28,175 meals. The Food Pantry served 1073 households from eight local communities, 350 families who had never been to the Food Pantry before. These numbers will continue to rise as economic conditions continue to falter. Continued community support will help ensure that this rising demand will be met.

Tickets for the meal are $35 per person and can be purchased at Henry & Marty Restaurant. A full bar and wine will be available separate from the meal with all proceeds also going to MCHPP. Reservations will be required. Call Paul @ 721-9141 for tickets and reservations.
